A  Brief History

The Earl of Leicester

Founded in 1958 by Lady Joan Evershed.

 Established as an industrial and provident society.

Has completed renovation on over dozen projects.

Current Project

The sale last year of Clifton House to a private buyer has enabled the Trust to focus on the restoration of Clifton House Tower (adjacent to the House).

 The Trust has retained freehold ownership of the Tower, as it always intended to do. Following advice from our architect, the Trust is planning a minimal conservation programme, which involves repairing the wood   and plasterwork, safeguarding the wall-painting, wiring the property and finally re-decorating.

 The Tower may be let upon completion of the work but public access to the building at certain times of the year will be possible.
