THE TRUST'S STRUCTURE
 
The Board of Management supervises the Trust’s activities. Its members (approximately ten in number and all volunteers) are elected because of their particular skills and talents. Assisting the Board are three committees (General Purposes, Projects and Communications). The Honorary Secretary co-ordinates the Trust’s daily activities, assisted by a part time office administrator.

The general care, maintenance and insurance of many of the former projects are in the hands of a separate management company under the control of the owners of the restored buildings but subject to Trust supervision as freeholder.

The Chairman of the Board of Management, Anthony Williams, is an ex- officio member of the three Committees.

 



Our Supporters

The Trust draws strength from its Associate Members. In return for an annual donation (current minimum £10), they receive a periodic newsletter and are invited to social and fund-raising events. These usually include a social event during the King’s Lynn Festival, a lecture in the autumn in memory of Lady Evershed and an opportunity to view ongoing projects.

Our links

The Trust’s profile benefits from its connections with other organizations.

It is represented on the Conservation Areas Advisory Panel of the King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council and is consulted by the Council on its re-development plans. Comments are made to the Council on planning applications, particularly those relating to listed buildings.

The Trust is a member of the National Association of Preservation Trusts, enabling it to maintain contact with building preservation trusts throughout the country. It has links with other organizations with an interest in conserving the built environment, such as the King’s Lynn Civic Society and the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings.


Our Role

The acquisition and restoration of buildings of architectural and historical significance in King’s Lynn;

The effective management of Thoresby College and other restored buildings still in the Trust’s ownership;

The monitoring of planning applications and offering opinions and advice to the Council on matters of architectural and heritage interest.
